The Anglican Way

The Anglican expression of Christian life is both sacramental and bible-based. We have a unique, blended spirituality of catholic and reform characteristics. You will find our worship life reflects what we believe about God, our relationship with God, as well as how we live in the world in response to God’s great love for us revealed through Jesus the Christ.

Our primary sacraments are Baptism and Eucharist (holy communion). We find the earliest roots of these practices in the bible. Baptism is offered for people of all ages as they (or in the case of children, their parents) decide to embrace a Christian way of life.

The Eucharist is celebrated Sunday mornings at 11:00 AM.  Holy communion is very important to the Anglican Way! Gathering around the Lord’s Table with one another sharing the bread and the cup draws us into the mystery of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Holy Communion is open to all who are baptized regardless of age or denomination. Once children are able to read, the program ‘Life In The Eucharist’ is offered to teach them the meaning of communion and baptism. They may, however, receive communion as soon as they are baptized, just as adults can.

Like other denominations, Anglicans embrace the practice of lesser sacraments such as confirmation (a grown-up expression of Christian faith and decision to practice the Anglican Way); confession (we pray for forgiveness together and are offered absolution in our eucharists); matrimony; unction (anointing of the sick); and ordination (holy orders of Deacon, Priest, and Bishop).

Just as there is preparation for baptism, holy communion, and confirmation, there is preparation for marriage as well.  One of the couple must be baptized (any denomination) and both must participate in a Pre-Marriage or Re-Marriage Preparation program.
